About Me

mountains

Hi! I'm Lucy, a junior in high school with a passion for maps. You may find this somewhat strange, as most girls my age are more focused on fashion, social media, sports, or other "normal" topics. However, nothing has ever intrigued me quite as much as maps.

As a child, I remember studying my grandparents' old paper maps from the time when people couldn't just pull out their phones and press a button to tell them where to go. They were as big as I was. I couldn't understand the words on the page, but, still, I could not help myself from staring at these maps for hours. I would trace the highways with my thumb and marvel at the sheer number of places that I knew nothing about.

That interest only grew as I became older, and when I was presented with the opportunity to create a blog about anything I wanted to in eighth grade, I immediately knew that it would be about maps. The rest is history.

Aside from maps, I love cooking, sports, science, and hiking. I think that hiking has made a special contribution to my love of maps. When I'm up on the summit of a mountain, I can see the world as if it were a map. It allows me to understand maps as much more than a source of spatial information. They are a genuine form of art that makes the world come alive in a truly unique way, and if you take one thing away from my blog, I hope it is that.
